Meet Some of Our Animals

The Bergen County Zoo has many animals you have come to know and love on your visits to the Zoo, but here is a behind the scenes look at some of our newest and/or most loved animals.  Click on one of the links for a bigger look at our Bergen County Zoo Residents.

Meet the Belted Galloway Cows

Two Belted Galloway cows arrived at the Zoo in April 22, 2014.  The mother, "Yardley," and her calf, "Nessy," came form the Southdown Farm in Bedminster, New Jersey.  Nessy was born on April 6, 2014.  Both have adjusted well to their new home at the Bergen County Zoo.

Belted Galloway cows are a heritage breed from Scotland and were bred to handle cold winters. They have a mild temperament, but are very protective of their young.

This acquisition was made possible by the a donation from the Friends of the Zoo.
Tamarin Exhibit

On May 23, 2014, the new Tamarin Exhibit was officially opened and dedicated. Come check out this new home for the Tamarins that was built, in part, through the generous donations made to the Friends of the Zoo.
